Sampling Accessories: Calibration Solution Loading Rig
For the introduction of gas or liquid calibration standards to sorbent tubes
As recommended by key standard methods, routine calibration for thermal desorption is usually carried out by introducing analytes onto the sampling end of clean sorbent tubes in the vapour phase.
Calibration Solution Loading Rig (CSLR™)
The CLSR consists of an unheated injector port with a controlled carrier gas supply and a sorbent tube connection point. The sampling end of a packed sorbent tube is connected to the CSLR and the carrier gas flow is set to between 80 and 100 ml/min. Carrier gas sweeps through the injection port and passes through the sorbent tube to vent.
The calibration standard (liquid or gas) is introduced through the injector septum using a standard GC syringe. Liquid standard solutions vaporise in the flow of gas allowing analytes to reach the sorbent bed in the gas phase.
Where possible, sufficient volume of carrier gas is allowed to pass through the sorbent tube such that most of the solvent is purged from the tube whilst compounds of interest are still quantitatively retained.
